Chile Earthquake
27 February 2010

An earthquake shook central and southern Chile today for approximately 3 minutes. Reports indicate that the quake registered at 8.8 Richter at the epicenter 197 miles south of Santiago and 73 miles north of Concepcion. SIMers in the Santiago area have reported in and are fine, but communication is currently down for those in the southern areas of the country.

Pray

  • Praise God that SIM workers in Santiago are safe!
  • Pray for those in the south who have not been able to communicate with SIM leadership or their own families. (Update: All SIM workers are safe. Praise God with us for this!)
  • For peace for them and their families during this time.
  • For all Chileans also who have lost loved ones and are struggling to communicate.
  • That God will intervene, and that he will be glorified in the midst of this tragedy.

As always, thank you for praying alongside us! Find out more about the situation at bbc.com
