On Tuesday, 2 August 2011, a bomb blast went off in the southern Philippine city of Cotabato. One person was killed and at least seven injured in the blast which occurred in a commercial building.

SIM has served in the Philippines for nearly 30 years and has workers in various locations, including in the south. SIM also sends Filipino missionaries overseas.
