They're on Facebook and into the Good Book, too!

Everything I read and hear these days challenges me to rethink how I communicate with and relate to today’s generation of young people. They are so wired up and interconnected globally they amaze me and intimidate me all at the same time! Their world moves fast and so does their ability to handle technology and absorb information.

As I think about this, what I am told and what I see makes it ever so easy to assume that something as outmoded and boring as serious Bible Study is a no-no. But I’m not so sure. In just about every place I travel and every group of young Christians I get to meet, within a very short time of chatting with them, I sense a passionate, sincere desire to know more about their faith. That’s where they need some help and encouragement. From there, I believe if you are willing to build a genuine relationship with them and set aside some time to be with them, it’s not difficult to get them into the Bible for themselves.

Having said that, we need to be equipped to give that help. I know there are lots of new, innovative ways to get young people into the scriptures for themselves. Perhaps we can help each other with this. If you have used or are using a Bible study “tool” that helps young people get into the Scriptures, I would like to know about it. Tell me about it, the group you are using it with, how you are using it and the impact it has had. If possible, send me an electronic outline that might be of use to others.
