VAMOS!
New Spanish Training Manual Released

Vamos

In March 2012, the SIM Spanish Communication team in Lima, Peru, presented the new interactive missionary preparation Manual in Spanish called Vamos (Let's Go). The 85 international leaders at the SIM Global Leaders Forum gave an overwhelming response.

A month earlier the new training Manual was presented at the Latin American Mobilization Conference, and the response was beyond what was expected. Comments included: "Everything is in one place!" and “Some manuals have said that they are interactive, but this one really is!”

More than 350 pages, 23 chapters, and lots of outside resources (PowerPoints, videos, readings) are now available to Latino missionaries from any mission agency. Candidates can work through the material with a mentor, as well as spend time on personal reflection.

With new sending initiatives in Africa, Asia, and South America, the multi-directional momentum of world missions continues to flourish. The SIM Paraguay team plans to make 2000 copies to help pastors mentor their missionary candidates. A mission agency in Costa Rica will use it in all of their missionary training. A Guatemalan pastor says this is exactly what he was praying for as he starts discipling a group of 40 young people interested in missions.

Given the positive responses, and the Manual's track record with Peruvian missionaries serving overseas, the next step is to translate the Manual into other languages.

Please pray:

  • for new candidates to be well discipled and prepared for missions by the material
  • for the Manual to be widely used for Christ's glory
  • for translating and contextualizing the Manual into other languages
  • for spiritual protection for the Spanish Communication team, and for those using the material

SIM is not only a church-planting mission, but a mission-planting mission too. Wherever we have helped to establish a church, we equip the church to carry forward the Great Commission. Joyfully we echo the Lausanne Covenant which says, "World evangelization requires the whole Church to take the whole gospel to the whole world." Amen!

This Manual can be made available to you, your church, or organization to use. To learn more, please contact contact your nearest SIM office.

Teachers Needed

Teachers Needed

Hundreds of the children of our SIM missionaries attend top quality mission and international schools around the globe. Currently dozens of positions for teachers and staff for the 2012-2013 school year are open and accepting applications. If you would prayerfully consider teaching in a multicultural context, we would love to speak with you today.

Check out the opportunities!

Church in Mostafapur (South Asia)

When we arrived, the mat was laid out in the worship room and the candles were lit as the host's home does not have electricity. No one in the group can read; so instead they use a Proclaimer (audio MP3 player) that contains the Muslim Language Version New Testament—Injil.

Sowing Seeds of Change (Niger)

ILT

A recent BBC Report suggests that 13 million people are on the brink of a humanitarian crisis in drought-stricken Central and West Africa. Long-term, stable programs such as SIM's Sowing Seeds of Change alleviate the devastating impact of famine even before it begins. Through research, training and demonstration farms, villages in Niger's Sahel are now more resilient in the face of food shortages. Learn more
